PROFESSOR DIBOFORI-ORJI, AMALO NDU
“He makes everything beautiful in His appointed time” are the graceful words on the lips of every member of Commodore (Engr.) J.C. Orji’s family as they give thanks to God on Sunday, 28th February, 2021 in Port-Harcourt, specially for the elevation of their Queen to the rank of a Professor! Indeed, only God could have made this dream come true!
The story of Amalo Ndu fondly called ‘Amy’ by her loved ones is that of a young Nigerian girl who found favour in the sight of God and men, held on to her dreams despite all odds to ascend to the zenith of her chosen career; making her a symbol of hope and success to every God fearing and determined African child!
Professor Dibofori-Orji, Amalo Ndu, was born on 3rd April, 1963 to the family of late Chief Ndu Dibofori and late Mrs. Arlene Dibofori, (Nee Osigwe) both of Mbiama-Engenni in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.
‘Amy’ was a favorite child of her parents, cool headed yet a ‘stubborn goal-getter’. She will settle at nothing until she achieve her goals. After her elementary and secondary education, she never gave up her desire for higher studies but kept pressing on.
She had her B.Sc in the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology, RSUST (now Rivers State University, RSU) in 1985; MSc. in Biochemistry from the then Edo State University (now Ambrose Alli University), Ekpoma in 1991, PhD in Environmental Management from RSUST in 2008 and a PGDE from the Institute of Education, University of Ibadan in 2011.

Like a tree planted by the river side, Amalo rose steadily to become the first female Professor in Engenni Kingdom and the first Professor of Environmental Management in Ahoada West LGA, Rivers State making her one of the leading female voices in Environmental Management in the Niger Delta region, where she has conducted several studies and projects aimed at mitigating environmental problems in the oil rich region.

Above all, Prof. Amalo N. Dibofori-Orji’s love for God and dedication to guide young people on the paths of righteousness is unparalleled. It is rare for an accomplished Scientist cum Educator in her mould to be sold out for God. “There’s no height one cannot attain in life, if one remains faithful with God” she says.
She is a Deaconess actively involved in the Women Ministry at the Assemblies of God Church of Nigeria, Woji Estate and Treasurer of Northern Rivers District Missions and an official of the Power Conference and Project Committees at the District level.
