The 2021 Edition of the Living Science Foundation (LSF) School Innovation Challenge is now open!

Livingscience foundation (LSF) initiated an annual innovation challenge for secondary school students in 2020. The Challenge is aimed at integrating young minds in her quest for safe Environment-Health practices in Nigeria.

The 2nd edition of the Challenge is focused on involvement of high school students in developing a functional SCHOOL HEALTH INFORMATION SYSTEM in line with the theme of LSF 6th National Conference of Environment and Health (NCEH) holding in October, this year. Read more on the Conference here:

Here are the details of the Challenge and how schools can participate:

Challenge Theme: To design an implementable School Health Information System using any Simple Database Application Software.

Project Background: A good school health information system (database) is helpful for decision making as it indicates the consciousness of school authorities on health status of pupils/staff, prevalence of any health issue and rate of recovery among others. The educational sector like other key sectors , suffers deficit of valuable health records which necessitates the inclusion of students in imbibing the culture of record keeping to overcome this major setback.

Procedure: Selected students (SS1&2) in a group of 3-7 from each participating school under the supervision of their Computer Teacher and School Health Officer to brainstorm on developing a functional health information database using any simple Computer Database Management System (application software).
